What are roof boxes?

Roof boxes is a collective name for ski boxes and luggage boxes.

What is the difference between a ski box and a luggage box?

A ski box is a longer luggage box that is also suitable for skis. A luggage box is therefore fairly square, while a ski box is longer and sometimes narrower. The height is approximately the same.


If I rent a roof box, are roof racks included?

You can rent those in addition.

What is better to rent: a ski box or a luggage box?

That depends on the following:

1. If you take large items with you that are nowhere narrower than 65 cm, then choose a luggage box.
2. If you have a 3rd or 5th door, renting a ski box can sometimes mean that the 3rd or 5th door cannot open as far.
3. If the above does not apply to you, then choose the most economical roof box (see ROOF BOX RENTAL PRICES).

Can I put luggage in a ski box?

Yes, absolutely; it is basically a luggage box in which skis can also be transported.

Are there special holders for skis in a ski box?

No, the skis can simply be placed inside loosely and, if desired, secured with tension straps.

What is the extra fuel consumption after mounting a roof box?

According to the ADAC (the German AA), your car uses 1 litre more per 100 kilometres when you drive at a cruising speed of 100 km/h.

Can the roof box be removed during the rental period?

It is no problem to remove the roof box during the rental period. There are 4 hand knobs which are easy to operate.
Please pay attention to the following:

1. Never open the roof box on both sides at the same time.
2. Always place the roof box on its bottom and not on its side or back.
3. When remounting, position the roof box straight and centred on the car.
4. When mounting, take into account the opening of the tailgate.

Are the roof boxes you rent out old?

No, absolutely not. All items we rent out are new or fairly new. Our range is constantly renewed. We only provide you with products we fully stand behind.

Are the roof boxes lockable?

Yes, all roof boxes are lockable with a central lock.

Do I need to rent a special fitting kit to mount the roof box on the roof racks?

No, all the required fittings are included with the roof boxes. For clarity: you must either have roof racks yourself or rent them from us.

Is there prominent advertising on the roof boxes when rented?

No, on some roof boxes there is a small text of 3.5 cm height (Topspace).
